SHETL to develop subsea electricity cable between Caithness and Moray

We are planning to develop a 109 km subsea electricity cable between Caithness and Moray to transmit the large volume of existing and planned electricity from renewable sources in the north of Scotland.

    Bad weather affects power supplies in Southern Electric Power Distribution area

    Our engineers are continuing efforts to restore power to customers, following damage to the electricity network caused by the high winds experienced yesterday and today.

    Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution 7.30 pm update

    Scottish Hydro Power Distribution (SHEPD) has made excellent progress to restore power to over 9,000 customers since this morning. Engineers are now working on to restore power to the remaining 1,700 customers affected by the infrequent snow fall and winds.

    Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution - latest storm update

    Scottish Hydro Power Distribution (SHEPD) has made significant progress to restore power to over 5,000 customers since this morning. Engineers are now continuing efforts to restore power to the remaining 6,000 customers affected by forty instances of significant damage caused by infrequent snow fall and winds.

    Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution Storm Conditions

    Scottish Hydro Power Distribution (SHEPD) engineers are continuing efforts to restore power to 8,000 customers in challenging weather conditions tackling around fifty instances of significant damage caused by infrequent snow fall and winds.  Over 3,000 customers have now had power restored since this morning.

    Ofgem recommends SHETL business plan for 2013-2021 transmission price control

    Ofgem has today confirmed it is recommending that SSE's electricity transmission business, Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Ltd (SHETL), is fast tracked under the RIIOT1 process for the Transmission Price Control period April 2013 - Mar 2021. Ofgem will now publish its proposals on the business plan1 put forward by SHETL.

    Disruption to electricity supplies during recent severe weather

    Following the storm force winds experienced earlier in the month resulting in the loss of power to so many properties within our network area in Scotland, I felt I should write and express my thanks to our customers for their patience, understanding and support in what must have been very tough and challenging conditions.

    SHEPD on course to restore electricity supplies to all homes

    Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD) confirms that all 40,000 customers affected by the storm force conditions which hit Scotland on Tuesday will have their electricity supplies restored tonight (6 January). Hundreds of engineers worked tirelessly for days to restore electricity to customers who had been without power. These customers were spread throughout the SHEPD territory but were found mainly in Argyll and Bute.
