• Customers without electricity are concentrated in Oban, Islay, Colonsay, Mull, Tiree, Lochgilphead, Dunoon and Bute.

Final update for today

• Our engineers will continue to work late into the night and we expect less than 800 homes to be without power overnight - this number may reduce even further by the morning
• These are small groups of customers in isolated and difficult to access areas across the Argyll region.
• We have contacted all these customers and we have provided hot food and accommodation where appropriate.
• We will begin working to restore the remianing homes at 6.30am tomorrow morning.
• We are confident that electricity supplies will be restored to all customers during the day tomorrow.

• We have restored power to Isle of of Bute, Dunoon and the Isle of Cumbrae (Millport) reconnecting almost 7,000 customers and reducing the total number customers without power to around 2,000.
• Hundreds of our engineers will work into the night to restore as many supplies a possible.
• Some faults are taking longer to restore due to access issues, fallen trees and other debris.
• We will maintain contact with those still without power, Where appropriate accommodation and hot food has been supplied.
• In Rothesay mobile generation units have been used.

• 9,000 customers remain without power
• We are working closely with Argyll and Bute council and the Scottish Government to ensure communication lines remain open to customers without power.
• Rescue centres have been set up in the Rothesay pavilion. We have also got hot food avaliable through mobile canteens located in Rothesay, Dunoon and Lochgilphead.
• We are offering accomodation to customers who have had no power since Tuesday.
• Over 700 engineers are working to restore the electricity with 150 in Dunoon and Bute.
• We are installing two mobile generation units in Rothesay.
• We expect the majority of customers to have their power restored later today.

• Our engineers restored power to 7,000 homes last night
• Renewed strong winds and poor weather conditions hampered work and has resulted in additional faults.
• Around 9,000 homes are currently without power.
• Fallen trees and debris caused many points of damage to the same stretch of network.
• These areas have access issues meaning faults may take longer to repair than expected.
• As the weather is now improving we do expect to make good progress

• Our engineers are continuing to restore power to the remaining 9,000 homes without power.
• The strong wind forecast for tonight may hamper progress and cause more damage.
• We are monitoring the weather situation closely.
• We are proactively calling hundreds of customers who are without power, concentrating on vulnerable customers and those who will be without power overnight.
• 3,000 homes in the Argyll and West area are expected to be without power overnight.

• At lunchtime today 9,000 homes were still without power.
• Our engineers will work into the night to restore the supply to as many customers as possible.
• Some of the work is hampered by roads being blocked by trees and other wind borne debris.
• We expect most customers to be back on supply by late this evening.
• We are making every effort to contact registered priority customers who may be without power.

• We will continue to keep a close eye on the weather over the next 48 hours.

• Yesterday about 40,000 customers were without electric, however by this morning power was restored to 29,000.
• Our engineers began working to restore power to the remaining customers at 6.30am. Almost 700 staff are working and we are confident that we will have the majority of homes back on today.
• Fallen trees and blocked roads mean that some parts of the network will take longer to repair. Some customers in remote areas or where there is significant damage to the network may be off overnight.
• Although today's forecast is for wet and windy conditions we dont expect it to cause our engineers too much of a problem. Overnight the weather is expected to get worse and could cause more damage to the electricity network.
• We will call customers who we know are without power to update them on our progress. Please call 0800 300 999, if you are concerned about vulnerable relatives or neighbours who may have no power.

Our electricity network has been subject to widespread damage as a result of winds with speeds of up to 90mph, with fallen trees and debris breaking overhead lines and poles. Across Argyll, Tayside and the north-east there have been over 100 major incidents and many more minor cases of damage. We can reconnect many customers by diverting electricity supplies from other parts of our network, but where this is not possible, engineers have to find and repair the damage. This work can be hampered if travel is difficult – as we’ve seen today – or if the wind speeds continue to make it unsafe for us to work on the network. We have around 400 engineers working to reconnect customers, with hundreds of staff supporting that work, answering customers’ calls and getting vital repair materials in place. Another cold night is forecast, we urge everyone to check on any vulnerable relatives or neighbours who may be without electricity, and to call us with their details on 0800 300 999. Please call if you are also without power and if you see any damage to our network (while keeping well clear of it). Don’t assume we are aware. • We have over 400 engineers tackling around 90 instances of damage to the electricity network, as storm force winds and heavy rain continue to disrupt transport and electricity supplies.
• Winds of around 90mph have been recorded.
• The wind has resulted in fallen trees and debris damaging the network, meaning loss of electricity to homes.
• We have additional engineering staff to the areas of the country where they will be needed most.

Severe weather is affecting electricity supplies to some customers as our electricity network is being damaged by falling trees and windborne debris.
The areas most affected are Argyll and the Trossachs.  The high winds have moved into Tayside and Central, where they are expected to peak at around 70 mph at 10:00 and subside by midday as they move into the North East where they are expected to peak at around 70 mph at 12:00 and subside by mid afternoon.  We have no way of telling how much disruption this exceptional weather will cause to customers’ electricity supplies but we have staff ready to begin repairs as soon as it is safe for them to do so.
