  • Supply connections

If you require new or altered electricity supply connections for premises or developments within SSEPD's distribution areas, we can arrange this for you.

If you are at an early stage of purchasing a site or planning a development, we can provide you with an estimate of likely costs.

If you have finalised your requirements, and are ready to enter into a contract with us to provide your connection, we can give you a formal quotation.

To enable us to provide an estimate or quotation for your connection works you will need to submit a completed application form, along with location and site layout plans (see our guidance notes). You will also need to complete an application form and send it with your plans. Download the appropriate form below.

    Application forms

Domestic or Non-domestic premises - we can provide electrical connections for new and redeveloped properties. You should use these forms to apply for a temporary supply, for example for a construction site. Please note; we do not supply an earth connection for temporary supplies so you will need to to do this or provide a safety device.

    •  Service alterations - we can alter the route of the existing connection into your premises.
    •  Load increases - if you need a larger power supply to serve additional electrical equipment, we will need to check your existing connection has adequate capacity.
    •  Network diversions - if your new development cuts across our existing electricity overhead lines, underground cables or plant, we can divert our services.

Alternatively, you can telephone us to request an application form via post:

    For connections in England:  0800 048 3516
    For connections in Scotland:  0800 048 3515

When you have completed the form and have the associated location and site layout plans, please call us on the appropriate number above to register your enquiry. We will give you the address of the local office where your estimate or quotation will be prepared, for you to send your application form and accompanying plans.

Alternatively you can email your application and plans to us at etb@sse.com.

Once we have received all of the information we need to process your application, we will send you a quotation for the works involved in delivering the new or altered connection.

This information sheet will give you more information about how the process works and you can also take a look at at our help page.

    Disconnections

If you need us to de-energise or disconnect your supply, or remove a meter, please contact your electricity supplier.  You supplier will instruct us to carry out work as required. If the property is within our area, and you do not know your electricity supplier please call: 0845 026 2554.

    Charging methodology

Our connections methodology and charges statements provide details of the terms and conditions for making connection to SSEPD’s network. They give information on the typical costs involved in providing a connection and also guidelines on which areas of the connections process are open to competition.

In England and Wales :Statement of methodology and charges for connection
In Scotland: Statement of methodology and charges for connection

    Quotation accuracy scheme

For customers requesting a connection offer for single low voltage service demand connections or small project demand connections, there is a quotation accuracy scheme should you believe that our connection offer is inaccurate or incomplete. This scheme does not apply to challenges relating to the absolute cost of quotations.
